When it comes to health care, the U.S. ranks near the bottom. We spend more money than anyone else, but still come up last, or close to it, in many health-care related rankings. If it bothers you enough to ask why this might be, I will tell you.
Our health care system believes in an “outside-in” approach to solving health related problems. The mentality is, “we need a better pill.” Most research is done to find a more effective pill to offset a particular health problem.
Here is how our current medical system goes about fixing a health problem or disease. Let’s say someone gets tonsillitis. Their doctor will prescribe an antibiotic to fight the infection. It may reduce the infection. If the infection comes back, they are given another antibiotic. If that antibiotic does not “cure” the infection, a stronger antibiotic is then prescribed. Again, if that one fails, an even stronger drug is given. If those do not eliminate the infection, or if the infection appears to be recurring, the tonsils are often removed. The entire focus is on the infection and fighting it.
The problem is that bacteria and viruses are always present. The question should be, “why is that person susceptible to the infection?” There are many reasons people become more susceptible to sickness, infection and disease. Among them are stress, lack of proper nutrition and structural imbalances.
I deal with patients every day who deal with, and effectively care for, and fix, multiple health problems without the use of any drugs whatsoever. I have friends who have never put a single drug into their body…ever.
As we look for a better pill to answer our ailing health care system, we are in big trouble. You can develop stronger and more potent drugs, but health does not come in a pill. If some has a deficiency of a vitamin, and that is causing a health problem, the only way to fix the problem is to add that vitamin to that person’s diet. If someone gets regular headaches because of pressure on the nerves in the neck, the ONLY solution is to remove that nerve pressure. Pop any, and every, pill ever produced for headaches, and guess what…it does not fix the problem.
Your body is the most incredible thing in the world. It makes everything you need to live, function and heal. If you have watched what has happened in our health care system over the past ten years, you have to agree that that thing there is a magic pill for every problem. Do not buy into the outside-in mentality. Start working on an inside-out approach towards maximizing your health. I guarantee you will live a longer, healthier, and more productive life.
Remember…More than 2 million Americans become seriously ill every year because of toxic reactions to correctly prescribed medicines taken properly, and 106.000 die from those reactions.
